Kinda like pizza, you can pretty much put anything on/in a grilled cheese and it’s gonna be good. Damn good. And everyone knows I love bread and cheese like a fat kid loves cake. Wait… I love cake, am I the fat kid? Fuck me.

Oh well. This grilled cheese has extra goodness with extra cheese, of the cream kind. And as if saying cream wasn’t bad enough, it’s gonna be moist too.

All together now…ewwwwwwww.

  1. Select your bread of choice, though fresh white bread is best.
  2. Spread Dijon mustard on one side of both pieces of bread, and butter on other side (pan down side)
  3. Cut apples into slices (slightly thicker than potato chips) and pile onto bread in pan
  4. Add slices of cheese of your choice, though Dubliner is delish
  5. Add bacon
  6. Pile on more cheese
  7. Final layer of apples
  8. Put on final slice of bread and grill away
  9. Perfect with pickles and chips on the side

Hello delicious, come to mama! Why is it that when you are trying to eat healthy, all the bad stuff has halos and is all glittery like vampires in the sun? This sandwich right here has all the makings of comfort food. Bread, cheese, bacon and beer. What more could you ask for? Other than a smaller ass perhaps…

Thank you, Kirbie. Thank you very much.

No big surprise that I’m blogging about food…again! Anyhoo – this is what I had for lunch today – a Stouffer’s Melt and Soup.  I bought the three cheese and ham stuffed melt with creamy tomato bisque soup and I have to say – I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t routinely purchase these types of frozen meals, but they were on sale at my grocery store for only $2 and I had a coupon for a dollar off, so it only cost me a buck! And you know how I love a good bargain…

I am not a big tomato soup eater, but this one was pretty good. It wasn’t as thin or watery as I expected and didn’t have chunks of tomatoes in it which is what usually turns me off. The sandwich was cheesy, and creamy and had big chunks of ham as well. Dipped IN the soup, the sandwich was even better. And so was the soup!

All in all, I’m calling today’s lunch an absolute success. Except for the the fact that nearly half the caloric content of what I ate was all fat… But mmm-mmm, some tasty fat it was!

An institution dedicated to deliciousness, the Grilled Cheese Academy is home to the tastiest and most sublime gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches known to man. The photos are mouthwatering and the recipes, like none other. This site is a must see for any cheese lover! These are just a few…

I kid, I kid. I’m all for doing good for and to the environment, but did you know that April is National Grilled Cheese Month? Yes, you read that correctly. April is National Grilled Cheese Month. Unfortunately I’m a little (okay, okay, A LOT late). A whole month to celebrate cheese and bread. Together. Can I hear a hells to the yeah?

If you are lucky enough to live in Southern California and love cheese and bread like I do, then head on over to the Grilled Cheese Invitational this Saturday (4/25/09) in Los Angeles from noon – 6 pm. According to Tim Walker, the event’s founder and organizer, the event “is the greatest combination of bravery and unnecessarily competitive cheese the world has seen since Neil Diamond’s 2008 world tour.” Kraft will even be on site as the official even sponsor offering up FREE grilled sammies to the masses. If you are so inclined, you can even sign up to compete, volunteer, or even be a judge (my personal fave – all the benefits without all the work).

I like my grilled cheese as gooey and flavorful as I can get it. White cheese, yellow cheese, blue cheese, whatever, just make it melty, hot and constipation worthy! Here are some dee-lish grilled cheeses to get your mouth watering:

Grilled Three-Cheese – a simple classic version with nothin’ but cheese
Grilled Cheddar, Bacon and Avocado – kinda like a California grilled cheese
Goat Cheese with Prosciutto and Honey
Pesto and Brie Grilled Cheese
Blackberry Grilled Cheese – get your daily serving of fruits with your cheese
Sauteed Jalapeno and Aged Jack Grilled Cheese – mmm, spicy
Tomato Soup Grilled Cheese – the soup is IN the sandwich
Green Apple Grilled Cheese

What’s YOUR favorite grilled cheese?
