Carbohydrate Friday!
11.19.2010
This week isn’t so much carbs as it is sugar. But both are equally bad for you in large amounts so I say it counts. And it seems fall is in full effect with Thanksgiving just around the corner and this is a great addition to any turkey day menu (or any fall day, I say). The recipe is for Wassail and my mom gave it to me years ago. Some of you may have tried it, or even made your own version because there are many different variations on the ingredient list. But I like it easy and this one definitely is and I can’t wait to make it next week!

WASSAIL
- 1 gallon apple cider
- 1 quart orange juice
- 1 cup lemon juice
- 1 quart pineapple juice
- 24 whole cloves
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1 cup sugar
Mix all ingredients & simmer 10 minutes or put in crock pot on low all day (this is my preferred method as it makes the house all cinnamon-y). Remove cinnamon & cloves before serving. If desired, add your favorite liquor. Many use brandy, but I like a spiced rum instead. If kids are present at your function, add the liquor into individual cups rather than to the pot!

[...] Now I get to eat them and I don’t even have to make them myself. I would bring some nice wassail though. [...]
